I needed this book for my BSN Nursing classes. It came unopened and it was authentic.

This book is not that helpful, chapters are super long, and it doesn't explain concepts well enough in my opinion. I hate it.

This has made the cut for my short list of books to carry on my boat. This is both a good winter read and something that you can review from time to time while waiting out the occational summer shower.

I am a fledgling sailor and was looking for more basic instruction. Most of this book is way over my head.

You would think a book entitled "Sail Trim" might actually have more than a few pages on that topic.Instead, you get 20 pages on poorly simplified and misrepresented fluid dynamics (granted, I was an Aerospace Engineer in college), 30 pages on different kinds of boats, 15 pages about a "new" automated sail trim on some crazy German boat, and 2 pages that - with no real explanation - dictate rig tuning and sail trim for a variety of conditions.I was expecting the "Theory" to inform the "Practice" and hoping to learn something I didn't know about the complex interactions of multiple sails on large yachts and the way to use dozens of different controls to maximize boat speed. But there was none of that. This purchase was a huge failure of Amazon's "Look Inside" feature.Do NOT buy this book unless you are a casual cruiser and an armchair physicist - if you take either discipline at all seriously, you will be sadly disappointed.

Clearly explains the theoretical and practical aspects of trim. Very enlightening. We sail faster now having read this book!! Well worth the cost and effort.jn

This book does a decent job at describing the aerodynamics and hydrodynamics of a keelboat. Admittedly, it's a tough topic to teach from a book. The difference between books on sail trim and theory really comes down to the graphics used to help in explanation. This is where this book falls short. Having said that, though, a new sailor will learn and benefit from reading Hahne's book.

First know that I LOVE this book, it is so very detailed. If you are going to limit yourself to a single diagnostic Micro book, THIS Is the one to buy. I have critiques of both the Kindle and the hard copy (yes, I bought both) but still its a text that I savor every time I open it. I'd been waiting for the new Koneman and hoping it was on Kindle beause I hate carrying the big one around...THe reason for subtracting 1/2 a stars is that EVERY SINGLE TIME I use the Kindle book...I'm am frustrated with how one has to access the photos & charts. I was just reading about viruses...go to the virus table that gives a brief summary of virus 'families' and damn if the box for rabies doesn't span TWO panes in such a way that I can't see it all at once (see the photo-- the top of the pane is cut off-- I had to go and look at it separately ...that's the kind of thing that I run into whenever I read the book. My other Kindle textbooks (Bailey and Scott, Mahon) have much better functionality on the Kindle app (using a Ipad Pro). I still love this book but for $100 they could have done a little better.Now for the half star deduction for the hard copy book, I received it packed very poorly (IF you order it, make sure you order NOTHING else with it..because when I received it shipped with a bulky item this text was laying in the box with NOTHING to secure it OR protect it. Poor packing isn't what made me take away from the rating. It arrived with a wrinkled cover and looking at it I think its one of those cheap covers that will come apart in a year of heavy use (the older edition still looks great after years of use). Something about the book cover seems poorly made. I taped it up with clear packing tape to protect it. A book this good warrants a excellent cover, beause its a book you will go to again and again.

Great resource for anyone in a Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science Program! I would highly recommend this book!
