First, let's deal with a few of the other reviewers' complaints. Some of them are just not legitimate. This is a STUDY Bible, all right? Study Bibles are too big and heavy to carry to church. They're for study, at home. If you want a Bible for church, buy a slimline or pew Bible, but don't complain about how big and heavy this is. Read the weight before you buy and the number of pages. Now for the margins. The side margins are a half inch and the top and bottom about 3/8 inch in the large print version. If you think these are two narrow (as some reviewers seem to), it's because this is a large print Bible and they're trying to make it thinner. Wider margins would have required more pages. Now for the darkness and size of the type. Bibles are printed on thinner paper so they aren't as heavy or as thick as they could be. There's a compromise between the thickness of the paper and show-through. With thinner paper, printers have to decrease the density or darkness of the type, so it doesn't show through to the other side. The type in this Bible is easily readable. There's nothing wrong with it at all. And, the large print is fine for my 62 year old bifocal eyes.So much for answering others' complaints. The footnotes in this version are helpful and clear. They provide some much-needed explanation and practical application of the text. The only complaint I have is when there's excessive references to other verses or other footnotes. Too much back-and-forth is laziness on the part of editors. That said, if you love to read and STUDY your Bible, you'll enjoy this one as much as I'm enjoying it. What we want more than anything is to understand what we're reading and be able to apply it to our life. This Bible gets high marks on both counts, thanks to the informative articles and good footnotes.Five stars because the NIV Study Bible will definitely help you in your desire to get closer to God.

Excellent study bible, especially for beginners. Lots of detail, maps and charts.

Just received today. It's very nice, very detailed. The leather cover is very nice. Also has a leather second page, or dust cover. The pages are great, not too thin, not too thick. Just right. Plus all the pictures and extra details are great to have. Being this is my first study bible and being new to reading the Bible all together, it's nice to have that extra information. I'm very glad I spent the extra money on this. Great quality.

This review is for the hardcover edition of the NIV Study Bible 2011 in book form (not Kindle). One thing to notice right from the start is that this new study Bible is called "NIV Study Bible" and not "Zondervan NIV Study Bible".Initially I was reluctant to purchase another updated NIV Study Bible (since I've had several improved versions already of the NIV Study Bible); However, when I opened this updated edition and began reading it, I recognized right away that there were significant improvements.A. The NIV text is revised -- this Study Bible uses the updated 2011 text rather than the 1984 NIV text. The main difference in the updated 2011 text is use of more gender inclusive language ("brothers and sisters" instead of brethren), and significant differences in translation than the 1984 NIV version. Here are some of the significant changes:1) Psalm 23: 4: "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil ..." (2011 version); the older version (1984) reads "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil."2) In Genesis 1:6 the 1984 version says, "And God said, 'let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water"; in the 2011 version, Gen. 1:6 says, "Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water."3) Rom. 1:16: The 1984 version leaves out the conjunction "For" in the beginning: "I am not ashamed of the gospel .." The 2011 version correctly adds "For" in the beginning: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel.."4) Rom. 8:5 The 1984 version translates the Greek word "sarx" as "sinful nature": "Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires." The 2011 version is much improved: "Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance to the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires." The 2011 translation "flesh" is much more accurate and closer to the original. I had a very difficult time accepting the 1984 translation "sinful nature" -- it is a mistranslation of "sarx," which should be translated as "flesh" (cf. ESV, NASB, NRSV)5) Phil. 2:6 (2011): "Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage" (1984 version says " .. consider equality with God as something to be grasped.").6) 1 Cor. 7:1 (2011): "Now for the matters you wrote about: 'It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman'"; the 1984 version says "It is good for a man not to marry."While I preferred Gen. 1:6 and Psalm 23:4 in the 1984 version, I liked the significant changes in the NIV (2011) as listed above. To its credit, this 2011 NIV text still retains the Messianic title "Son of Man" in Daniel 7:13; it did not go the way of the NRSV and translate it as "someone like a human being."One thing that teachers using the 2011 NIV text need to know is that it reads differently from the NIV 1984 version. When I read from the NIV 2011 to my Sunday School students, they asked me, "Which Bible are you reading from?" Many of them had the 1984 NIV and the new 2011 version had different wording.B. New updated features, charts and articles1) There are colored introductions to each Bible book; colored illustrations, maps, and charts. These colored illustrations make this updated version much more appealing to read2) Slightly updated notes -- the notes are very similar to the 2008 updated Zondervan NIV Study Bible. Some of the notes include a brief explanation of the Jewish understanding of biblical concepts (e.g. the notes to the Prologue of John in John 1:1-18).3) New helpful colored charts and articlesAncient Texts Relating to the Old Testament (all the Ancient Near Eastern Texts that are important for understanding the Old Testament)In the Old Testament, there are explanatory articles and charts that explain key cities (e.g. the City of the Jebusites, Solomon's Jerusalem)Explanatory articles on the Tabernacle, Tabernacle Furnishings, Old Testament Festivals, Old Testament Sacrifices, etc.)Explanatory articles (and maps) on Important OT events (The Exodus, David's Conquests, Wilderness Wanderings, Division of the Land in Joshua's Conquests, etc)In the prophetic books, there are charts like "Visions in Daniel" that explain and compare the vision of the statue (ch. 2) and the four kingdoms (ch. 7) in DanielMajor Archaeological Finds for the NT (right after John chapter 21)Colored Harmony of the GospelsCharts that Summarize Christ's Life and Ministry (Jesus' Early Life, Jesus' Baptism and Temptation; Summary Charts on Christ's Life from Childhood, Baptism, Ministry, Last Week, and Resurrection -- (all within the "Matthew" section in the New Testament)All the maps inside the text are in color (e.g. Paul's Missionary Journeys in the Book of Acts; Seven Churches in Asia Minor in Revelation)Colored pictures and descriptions of important archaeological sites (e.g. Herod's Temple, Roman Colosseum, Jewish ritual bath, Temple of Trajan, etc.)Helpful charts that illustrate key biblical terms and concepts in the NT book (e.g. "Slavery vs. Freedom" chart in Galatians)Helpful articles that explain key theological concepts ("The Church and the Tribulation" article -- taken from Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds set)4) Study Helps Section in the BackTable of Weights and MeasuresRevised Spelling of Proper Names (compared to the 1984 NIV version)Topical IndexIndex to the NotesConcordanceIndex to Maps at the End of the Study BibleWhat I found most helpful was the Topical Index, which helps the reader find the right Scripture passage for a given topic. It was helpful that the concordance followed right after the Topical Index. The colored maps are excellent in the back.5) Suggestions for Future EditionsI hope someday the NIV Study Bible would include a Brief Survey of Biblical Theology, a brief overview of church history, and articles on key words in the Bible. Study Bibles such as the Ryrie Study Bible, MacArthur's Study Bible, and the ESV Study Bible include these helpful articles. However, the new NIV Study Bible is a pleasure and delight to read. I'm so glad the editors included the colored charts, articles, and maps within the text of the Old Testament and the New Testament.Highly recommended!!

Where do I begin....I absolutely LOVE this bible. I bought it as a replacement to my older Women's NIV study bible, and I could not be happier. I bought the actual hard copy of the book, not the electronic copy (because when it comes to reading the bible I want the physical book). The colorful pages, maps, etc. are just an added bonus to the nice quality of this bible.

Still addicted. Loving how all of the new stories get a runningstart in the previous books. Love Kian and his love for Syssi.

Dark Stranger The Dream: New & Lengthened 2017 Edition (The Children Of The Gods Paranormal Romance Series) Kindle Editionby I.T. Lucas (Author)Dark Stranger Revealed (The Children Of The Gods Paranormal Romance Series Book 2) Kindle Editionby I.T. Lucas (Author)Dark Stranger Immortal (The Children Of The Gods Paranormal Romance Series Book 3) Kindle Editionby I.T. Lucas (Author)I've put all three of these books together not only because they are a trilogy, but because the first two end on cliffhangers that bleed over, sometimes word for word, into the next. So, hey, three for one, yay!Imagine being the son of a Goddess, being 2000 years old, running a massive conglomerate nearly on your own and having to spend every night with a different women, wiping her memory of you so you are truly alone except for your family. Oh, and you have fangs that exude venom and are the origin of the legends of vampires, although you don't take blood. Your venom merely causes some of the greatest orgasms your partners have ever had. All you want is your truemate, but you no longer believe in that myth. Now imagine you are a graduate student who has precognitive abilities who is working with a fun and flirty female professor researching paranormal abilities. You have no idea that she has an ulterior motive, she is looking for Dormants, descendants of the Gods, many many generations removed. Your only romantic and sexual experience is one obnoxious, bordering on a verbally abusive male. These three books are their stories – Kian (the son of the Goddess) and Syssie(the ordinary grad student with precog). They are pushed together when Amanda's lab (the Professor) is destroyed by Doomers – our villains du jour. The sexual tension and relationship confusion are both drawn tight as we see the expectations of a modern woman versus that of man who has lived 2000 years and doesn't quite get the concepts of sexual liberation, delegation and democracy. There is a lot of humor and a lot of action scenes plus tension from the attraction that quickly turns to true love.Secondary character, from Amanda to Dahlu who should be the main villain but is not what we expect, are exceptionally well drawn. One moment you thing Amanda is a shallow woman moving fro man to man, then you realize she has no choice and is seeking a 'cure' to all that. Dahlu appears to be a whack job of a religious he-man-woman-hater, then you find, like a lot of Scientologist, he has discovered the internet. All three books have a continuous plot and are addicting. I would finish one and immediately need the next like a fix! This Trilogy is Book Nerd Approved4 out of 5 stars – losing one star because, for a 2000 year old man from Eastern Europe, Kian has an amazing grasp on the English language including American idioms and slang. And well, CCTV/Face Recognition programs would eventually catch the century old people, particularly if a business competitor got a bee in their bonnet to bring them down.https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Stranger-Dream-Lengthened-Pa…/…/https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Stranger-Dream-Lengthened-Pa…/…/https://www.amazon.com/Stranger-Immortal-Children-Parano…/…/

I’ve read 4 of the books in this series. Without giving anything away, let me start by saying the first 3 books were really good. I couldn’t put them down. That being said, at the end of the 3rd book I was upset that the story of Syssi and Kian really wasn’t over in my opinion. It went into the fourth book about Kians sister Amanda. But still had bits about Syssi and Kian. Their story wasn’t even over after the fourth book, but went into a story about Amanda. Which Amanda’s story wasn’t completed by the end of the fourth book either. So to me this series is going to ramble on and on with no completion to any couples story. I am not reading further into the series because I don’t like when an author leaves open endings, even after 4 books in.

This book hits you completely with the suspenseful play! I seriously don't know where to begin with this one. Syssi is curious about Kian and his family. Like the old saying goes, "Curiosity killed the cat." Well in this case, Syssi's trust. However, true love prevails. Syssi and Kian were destined for one another. Their chemistry is absolutely breathtaking and amazing. Honestly, I'm jealous of it. It's one of those you ache to have yourself, minus the hidden secrets.Dalhu is still being his sneaky self. Only now his plans are to discover where the clan is hiding Syssi and kidnap her for his own personal use. On the other hand, his relationship with Amanda may transform him. I'm eager to know if she can do it!This series keeps getting hotter, intense, and more addiction with each page. Time for Book 4!

Dark Stranger: The Dream-Revealed-ImmortalBooks 1-3 in The Children of the Gods SeriesI.T. LucasBooks 1 through 3 of Lucas’s Children of the Gods seriesLucas’s Children of the Gods series is unique, eye opening and addicting. Her premise of descendants of Gods battling it out through the centuries and almost wiping out each other and the human race is excitingly fresh in a genre gone stale. The race may be ancient but they surround themselves with all the current luxuries and technologies. With a plucky dialogue, action packed scenes and unforgettable characters they’re hard to put down and almost impossible to stop at just one.Books one through three is Kian and Syssi’s story and must be read in order. In these first books of the series you will meet most of the characters, learn their history and will become intimate with a few key players. Lovers of all things urban fantasy, myth lovers and fans of kick-butt hero and heroines this is for you.AUDIBLE:The audible edition narrated by Charles Lawrence gives the listener a deeper perspective of the story by magnifying all the emotions and actions of the characters. His seductive baritone does a great job with all the voices and the intonations of the very different characters, females and males, human and immortals.SUMMARY:From the beginning of time there have been near immortal beings who have molded humanity, been the object of worship but who as a race almost destroyed each other and human civilization. Now only two Gods are left both sworn enemies:The followers of Morta, the Doomers and the descendants of the Goddess Annani.Kian, the son of Annani is the leader of his clan all descendant of the Goddess they live a lonely existence denied true love because the only other of their kind are their greatest enemy. When Kian’s sister, Amanda discovers that humans who have certain psychic traits could be in fact dormants of their kind he’s skeptical until he meets her assistant and most likely candidate, Syssi and falls head over heels in lust with her.Syssi knows she landed the perfect job as Dr. Amanda Dokani’s lab assistant that is until there is a break in at the lab and Amanda insists she stays with her until the danger passes. When Syssi meet’s Amanda’s gorgeous, unsettling brother, her whole world turns upside down and she has no idea what’s in store for her.
