Waste of money. Has one novel idea (that there aree 3 types of conversation), and keeps repeating it over and over again, without ever telling you how to have those kinds of conversations. Author is too busy promoting her copyrighted slogans and dashboards. Also, for someone with the experience she has, there should be more examples and stories. It's just too boring. And mainly, it doesn't teach you how to do anything. Disappointed.

The principles espoused are terrific mind sets for leaders and groups, yet are simply common sense for relationship building. The primary message is to put the relationship first, and through enhanced trust all obstacles (essentially fear) melt away. However, I was looking for more practical supports for linguistic change, and I didn't find it. Leaders most in need of trust building exercises are those who have never experienced what these conversations sound like, and unfortunately they will not learn it here. They will be reminded of the principle of sharing and discovering, (relationship building), but only one small paragraph actually provides linguistic samples of actual conversations. This book has very little in the way of example conversations, but more in the way of example meeting strategies. Leaders can't utilize language skills they don't have, and regrettably I found no assistance here.

To be fair, this book puts together excellent frameworks for setting up productive co-creating conversations in a structured way. The 3 levels of conversation, the dashboards, the 5 brains, the TRUST model, the FORCES model, etc., are all useful framing of some commonsensical but powerful body of knowledges that work towards building great conversations and trust. Judith provides some great examples and cases of conversations for each model that she has worked with actual clients that illustrates the concepts. But I give a three stars because the book is too lengthy, with multiple repetition of the same points written over and over again, even within the same chapter. I certainly appreciate the power of reinforcement, but when it come across as a "collection of separate lectures" rather than a unified production of coherent thoughts, I would expect a book written on "intelligence" to be produced with strong writing intelligence.

I am surprised by some of the reviews describing Ms. Glaser's book as "average" (or similar terms). My work involves both providing executive and leadership coaching as well as delivering programs designed to develop leader coaches and building emotional intelligence. The cornerstone of relationships whether personal or professional is trust. Building trust is not necessarily something leaders (and others) understand or know how to create even if it seems to be "common sense." We all benefit from having tools, tips, and strategies that can facilitate the creation of strong, trusting relationships.One of my measures of the usefulness of a book is how many notes I write in the back cover sections of my books and notes for "Conversational Intelligence" overflow! I love practical tips and Ms. Glaser provides so many. One of my favorite tools she offers are acronyms, e.g., STAR, TRUST, LEARN. Maybe because I used acronyms throughout my education to remember key elements but now when I think about building trust I think TRUST: transparency, relationship, understanding, shared success, and testing assumptions & telling the truth. (Many more of these in the book with rich descriptions of each.) Helping leaders and others remember that success is often based on trust and using TRUST as a self-assessment to evaluate the components of trust can be invaluable.I also love that Ms. Glaser provides a number of exercises (toolkit) for creating exceptional listening skills and addressing "issues" that may come up in a relationships. Very practical! As author Tim Mackintosh-Smith's book is sub-titled in this edition, Yemen is the unknown Arabia, one that is in many respects, at least at the time this book was published (2000)least like its Arabic neighbors.The author is a long-standing resident of the capital San'a, and uses it as his base to explore the language and culture of greater Yemen, including some memorable expeditions into deserts and mountains, visiting remote villages and ancient ruins.At times I found my attention straying when the narrative became bogged down in technicalities that held little interest for me, but in the main I was happy to travel along with Mackintosh-Smith, especially when he visited places like Aden and the island of Suqutra, themselves atypical of the rest of Yemen.His exploration of Aden came at a time when the place was notorious for its nightlife (the early nineties) and incurred the condemnation of traditional Arabs. Good enough reason to visit it, the author felt. Consequently he finds himself in a night club with a disco ball and dance floor, plus a band that covered everything from Lebanese hits to Queen classics. To this reader's delight, he witnessed a local phenomenon in the form of the mutamaykalin, "the Michaelesques - the fans of Michael Jackson" who filled the dance floor.Mackintosh-Smith's experiences in Yemen culminate in the political struggles of the early 1990's in the wake of the first Gulf War. I was left wishing for a sequel to find out what happened next for the qat-chewing, language-loving author. Never fear, "Yemen: The Unknown Arabia" was his first book (which, incidentally, won a Thomas Cook Travel Book Award)and three subsequent volumes sit in my stack of travel books, awaiting my attention: Hall of a Thousand Columns Travels with a Tangerine: From Morocco to Turkey in the Footsteps of Islam's Greatest Traveler The Travels of Ibn Battutah

I enjoyed this work. The author spends time focusing on most areas of Yemen- the Hawdramat, Sana'a, Aden, the mountains, and Suqutra. It would have been nice to have more detail on the coastal areas and the writing at times isn't excellent, but it is a very serviceable text. MacKintosh-Smith writes from the perspective of someone who really got inside the culture- as much as a traveler can get. He retains an etic perspective, and does not live, grow, and die with the Yemeni. But this is one of the few travelogues where one can find information on qat, and even the author using it on a regular basis (though it remains classified as a drug at the same level as cocaine by the U.S. government).It is also one of the few places where you can find a modern description of travels in Suqutra, which is worth getting the book by itself. The chapter on Suqutra describes a land isolated biologically for millions of years, displaying evidence of gigantisism as you find in Hawaii, where few predators have controlled the growth of fauna and especially flora. There are cucumber trees there, and others that look like upside-down umbrellas. Much of the flora and fauna are unique to the island. Further, severe storms six months of the year prevent access to the island. So, while over the years there have been invasions on the coast of the island by different parties, it has largely grown up unscathed into modern times. The language diverged from South Arabian in about 750 BC, and the people seem to be a mixture of Arabic, Greek, Portuguese, and Indian- but no one knows for sure. While they do now have cars (301 of them), the cigarette lighter is still an unknown machine. And since the government severely limits non-Yemeni visitors to the island, this is a rare and exciting bit of a story of what the people are like. I only wish there was more about the island.

Very thorough trip through Yemen with tons of historical info. I felt as though I really got a better understanding of the country and its people... men at least as there is hardly any commentary on women's issues. For those issues I Am Nujood gives some different insight. The author is quirky which I love! It made me want to visit and feel sad about current events.

I really enjoyed this book although I purchased from a Market Place seller who said it was Very Good but it was only ACCEPTABLE with yellow pages and ugly.I don't want to take the stars away from the book though. The author also has a video of his adventures in Yemen done with a camcorder but I found it to be interesting as well.He's certainly a character who has followed his dream.I recommend for those interested in the Middle East and especially Yemen.

I have read this book several times over the past ten years or so and enjoyed it every time. Mackintosh-Smith is an excellent writer who describes his view of Yemen very well, as one who has lived there and been immersed in its culture and the Arabic language.

You can see Tim Mackintosh-Smith's style emerging, but not the equal of his Ibn Battuta trilogy, which I loved and am even re-reading in parts.

A long time resident of Yemen, the author combines his travel around this interesting country with a far longer historical account of this very interesting country. A little richer from reading about a corner of the Middle East

I love under the sea pictures. You can let your imagination really go crazy ( not that you can’t with other pictures ). These don’t get too bogged down with detail, nor are they too simple. Although there ARE a few fairly simple pictures in case a child in your life would like to join you or you just feel like a more simplistic design that day. But even they are well done. I’m really enjoying listening to music and coloring again. I find it theraputic. If I really love a picture I’ve done, there are apps where you can transfer them onto mugs, pillows, T-Shirts, etc. I highly reccomend this as an activity...AND ...THIS coloring book! 🐢🐙🥽💫💫💫💫💫

If you love regency romance, you'll love this. Rose really liked William, but then he started being a real jerk. She had no idea why, so she replied (in the spunky fashion of which I approve) by being a twit back. This went on until ... Rose discovered how she really felt... and lots gets in the way, but the writing is cute, and there are some tremendously funny lines thrown in to keep you smiling. Also, for what it's worth, there's an earl AND a marquis, and a heroine who "doesn't care much what the girls think of her gowns." BAHAHA. :-) Enjoy!

This book was a page turner for me. I was up until 2 in the morning finishing it. I love that there was passion but no smut. Hatch captured what it was like to be young and insecure and in love. The charctures were captivating and well written. I was excited to see how it all transpired.

This was just what I was looking for! It compared to Edenbrooke and Blackmoore, a light and sweet regency romance. The characters were developed in a fun and modern way, but the book still stayed true to the time period. I’m crossing my fingers this author releases more stories like this soon!

Clean, fun, hard to put down. If you enjoy Regency romance books, this is a good one. I took a chance as I hadn't heard of the author, but it was well worth it!

I enjoyed this story. The characters had likeable personalities and the dialogue was believable. Almost too much misunderstanding. Fun read.

This short proper romance was a great read. I particularly loved the dialogue and the twists in the story. So happy to find a new author!

I loved this book from beginning to end! Beautifully written. I Loved Rose as a heroine. I loved all the characters actually. I think the clever dialogue and witty banter was what I loved most about this story. It was a sad moment after I read the last sentence and closed the book. I didn't want it to end!

I loved it, I couldn't put it down once I started. A wonderful story of misunderstanding, forgiveness , and the perseverance of love.
