This has a definite evangelical slant, but is a great read. Mr. Grudem has written a very comprehensive overview of the evangelical belief system that gives a pretty fair balance of views WHEN the comparison is offered.I have read thru this 2 times, and use it as a reference a lot. Pair this with A Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs by David W. Bercot and you will have a LOT of food for thought!

I bought this after I was looking for explanations and contrasts with the minority doctrine of "soul sleep." I originally looked at dictionaries of Christianity, from the least expensive $6.00 +/- versions to $30 + versions. In all cases when a term was defined, they did not provide any contrasting terms or doctrines. I took a chance and figured an up to date Systematic Theology book would provide a more complete answer.Indeed, Chapter 41, Death and the Intermediate State, of Grudem's Systematic Theology provided the in depth answers I was looking for. The predominant more orthodox views on this topic were also fully discussed in clear and easily grasped verbiage. This sort of contrast and in depth explanations are missing in the several Christian doctrinal dictionaries I reviewed. The complete Index of this book served the purpose of "Dictdionary" for me.Other topics are similarly discussed with both minority and majority views.A few years ago I owned a copy of Geisler's Systematic Theology but sold it. It also had complete and easily understand explanations of doctrinal topics. As I recall, the paper was a glossy, higher quality stock and the higher price reflected that feature. That is the reason why I chose Grudem's top selling systematic theology book over the Geisler this time around.This book is highly recommended for anyone who comes up with questions about present day predominant and minority doctrines of the Christian Church.Speaking of "present day", the major criticism of this book seems to be that it doesn't provide historical doctrinal understandings as much as some would like. The beginning pages of this book fully explain that this Systematic Theology is NOT a "historical" systematic theology. It's focus and emphasis is on TODAY's principle doctrinal interpretations, not interpretations of 350 AD or 1045 AD, although where appropriate, historical understanding will be briefly contrasted.For a companion book on Historical Systematic Theology that is organized along similar categories as this book, "Historical Theology: An Introduction to Christian Doctrine" by Gregg Allison is recommended.

There's probably a simple check to determine if Grudem's Systematic Theology is for you. Is God sovereign or is God <100% sovereign? Be certain of your answer or your head might explode if you dive into this study. If God is <100% sovereign (i.e. You might think that man might retain some level sovereignty) ... this is not the heavy duty read/study effort for you.Grudem's Systematic Theology has been the central text in a Systematic Theology Course I've been taking. Grudem diligently explores the detailed scriptural case for Calvinist theology and the TULIP tradition. Grudem's ability to skillfully move across and among traditions and understandings is remarkable. I thought it was extremely useful that Grudem provides references for each chapter into the parallels of other denominational systematic theologies inclusive of about every Trinitarian Christian tradition. Grudem considers the case for each of the reasoning's and the ordo salutis within a reader friendly and complete framework to be considered, rethought, resolved and perhaps settled adequately for the reader.Having read other Systematic Theologies, I found that Grudem's presentation delivers the best scriptural to theology "processology" that I've encountered. I followed a number of his trails through both scripture and history as initiated by Grudem's thinking for the sheer enjoyment of deep drilling a topic. I thoroughly enjoy an author that provides the `Ah Ha' moment in matters that I've randomly thought about but had never seen expressed ... there were a number of these gems here.Grudem is writing from a Calvinist perspective. 4.5-5 letter Calvinists should find that Grudem's Systematic Theology is a 5-star reading/study experience. If you aren't leaning from Arminian to Calvinist, read another variation on Systematic Theology.

Grudem has a done a huge service in adding to the plethora of good theology books and summaries. While his thorough summary is l-o-n-g (over 1200 pages) it does a good job of covering a lot of topics. My sadness was the splattering of presumptions put into the text. (e.g. He state that—of course there is only one mode of baptism. Or he automatically teaches that the gift of pastor and teacher is pastor-teacher [one gift] without explaining why teacher is listed as a separate gift in other NT texts. He is clear about some of the positions he holds and he does a fairly good job i explaining other views. The books it thick, solid and adds much tot he discuss. However, I would read it in parallel with good books likes Calvin's Institutes or Mike Horton's Pilgrim Theology.

Confused. Inconsolable. I stayed to read the book and gained a bit of wisdom from the author’s life-experiences. The story itself moved my heart.Is there any child who has never felt that their parents did not understand them? In this case, the author was adopted. It is a witness to his childlike purity of heart that there’s not moment anywhere in the book where he thinks of them as his “adoptive” parents. In an appealing amalgam of realism and idealism, he always refers to them as “mom,” “dad,” and “my parents.” After all, they were his parents. The only parents he would ever have. He made the best of a terrible situation. He loved them, even though, for some incomprehensible reason, they seemed incapable of loving him in return. Despite verbal and physical abuse, he held on to his dream of being part of a happy family as long as he could. Then he ran away. It would be tempting to say that he was like Captain America (Peter Fonda) in “Easy Rider” who went "looking for America but never found it.” But without giving away too much more of the story, let it suffice to say that he did find happiness; he did find love. So there’s even a bit of a “happy ending”! May we all be so fortunate! If you--right now--are dealing with an abusive relationship, be sure to read the quotations on p.105 and p.111! If you have a friend who is or was in an abusive relationship, send him or her a copy of this book!I notice that he has written other books in which he shares other dimensions of his life. A wonderfully written true story of the cruelty, physically and emotionally, that a parent can inflict on a child. Everyone with children, or thinking of having children, should read and realize that everyone of your actions has consequences. Every child living in an abusive relationship should read, if for no other reason, then to know that are people that love you and are willing to help you once you allow yourself to break your vow of silence. A true story of survival and the strength of the human spirit at the hand of treachery. I highly recommend to one and all.

Wow! What a read ... and what a story. This book is so well written, it reads more like a novel. It's a pager turner alright. The story is hard to take only because of the abuse described. Mister Jackson has had one remarkable life. From the horrible home situation, to his resilience, to his trumpet playing, to his time in Vietnam (which I wish he had gone into more detail on), to his coming to grips with all the shit he had to take over the years.Well played, Mister Jackson.

Knowing the author and then reading his story is incredibly enriching. That anyone could go through what Chuck Jackson went through is a miracle in itself. It is a powerful and fascinating story that parents AND children of age should read. Abuse seems to seep from generation to generation and it destroys lives in the process. It has to stop. Books like "What Did I Do?" help immensely. I feel enriched that I have heard his story.

What struck me is his father was a senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Air Force for over twenty years. A dedicated man in the service to his country, Had his commanding officers known of his abuse of his son, he would have been Courts-Martialed and kicked out of the service, at a minimum, Discharge, other than Honorable.CHUCK JACKSON has written his life's story and it should be read by parents who are guilty of abusing their children, and most important, by kids who are victims of abuse. His life, and his survival remind me of DAVE THOMAS, founder of Wendy's, and DAVID JANSSEN, the star of "THE FUGITIVE", whose mother placed him in a Boy's Home for three years, where he was subjected to BULLYS,This is a very good read.

Disclaimer: I was gifted with a copy of this book by the authorJackson takes us back in time into his childhood where he was adopted by his parents at 14 months old. Where one would think adoptive parents would feel so blessed to have a child, this story isn't one of them. The author opens his heart in his telling without whining or complaining of what he endured, but instead questions - What Did I Do? As we learn about the emotional neglect he suffered along with the physical attacks from his father, the author steals our heart and has us wanting to reach out and just hug the boy.We get a good look at emotionally bankrupt parents who carry their own demons, which gives us a hint at how they project their own unhappiness in their lives on to poor Bobby (author' name in the book). This void of love Bobby exists in doesn't sour his desire to want his parents to love and appreciate him, but rather, disturbs him through life as to why they couldn't give him any affection. Eventually, Bobby runs away from home with fears that the beatings won't stop despite the apologies that sometimes come after a consequent attack.The story gives us insight into not only what the child had to live with growing up and into adulthood, but has us shaking our heads at what on earth went wrong in his parents' life to make them so self-absorbed and uncaring.I would highly recommend this book to parents to have a look at what abuse can do to a child through Jackson's eyes and words, as well as for anyone who has been abused to be inspired by how Jackson handled his life and still came out as a compassionate good person without falling victim to his upbringing and continuing the trend of abuse. #Recommended

I read the reviews about a glossy book and well laid out. My book came with a glossy cover and all black and white interior that looked like it had been copied. Under breakfast recipes it has chicken salad, feta triangles, Brussels sprouts and pizza rolls. I wish I could get my money back. Not a decent cookbook.

Air fryer is one of my favorite appliances in the kitchen. This cookbook is very convenient in terms of content. Convenient dictionary, recipes in alphabetical order, colorful pictures of ready meals, simple and convenient instructions. A wide variety of recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, meats, side dishes, seafood, desserts. With this book, I loved the dishes cooked in an air fryer even more.

This cookbook is VERY VERY VERY OVERRATED!! Not only are the recipes ultra simple the pictures are lousy and in crappy black and white! If you want to find the same recipes FOR FREE just look on YouTube and you’ll find the same ones while watching them demonstrated in COLOR or if you prefer you can find them on Facebook also with some of them demonstrated!

I was given an air fryer for my birthday and had no idea what to cook with it. Turns out you can basically cook anything you want with it. This recipe book provides endless options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or any other time you feel like cooking something. Thanks to this book, I can use my air fryer for pretty much any meal I want every day.

A wonderful resource to have in the kitchen. Got this for my wife and she absolutely adores it. Browses through recipes on her kindle device to choose which to prepare on any given day. Might I add further that the addition of the glossary makes things a whole lot easier with regards to navigation. This is truly a life saver!

This is the best air fryer cookbook I've seen yet. The author does indeed make you comfortable with your air fryer, My main interest is in learning how to convert my existing recipes into air-fryer-mode. She gives lots of helpful advice, and many of her recipes are similar to what I cook already

This is by far the best air fryer recipe book out there. The recipes are easy to make, and most of the items needed are not outrageous things that I'll never use again. The recipes have the nutritional information, which is great for dieters. This book is definitely worth it. I love it.

I bought this air fryer for my wife, she does the cooking, and this cookbook really appeals to her as she likes having pictures in her cookbooks and this provides plenty of that as well as things to try - not to mention lots of information. Well recommended
